The STA Series is a shell and tube cooler for oil: hydraulic fluid on a power unit, lubricating oil on a compressor or gearbox, quench or transmission oil, transformer oil. Oil flows across baffled copper tubes in the shell while cooling water passes through the tubes in one, two or four passes. Seventeen sizes are catalogued by shell diameter and length.

Beyond compressed air, IPAC built two ranges for general industrial heat rejection.
Two ranges, four duties. The STA shell and tube cooler handles oil and, with a different factor, water-to-water; the WAC closed-circuit cooler rejects a loop's heat to air and is often the water source for everything else.
The WAC Series is a packaged closed-circuit cooler that rejects heat from a water or glycol loop directly to ambient air, with the pump, radiator, fans, expansion tank and control valve all on one frame. It replaces a cooling tower where the loop must stay clean or where a tower is impractical, and it is often the water source for an STA cooler or a water-cooled aftercooler when the plant has no other supply.
Oil transfers heat far less readily than water and its viscosity rises steeply as it cools, so the cold end of an oil cooler works hardest for the least return. The STA puts oil on the shell side across baffled tubes to keep the oil-side pressure drop low, and the MBH method corrects the rating for oil outlet temperature and water inlet.
A tower loop picks up dust, oxygen and biological growth; a closed glycol loop through a WAC does not, and it runs outdoors through the winter. That is why the WAC is chosen for induction heaters, welders, lasers, mould tooling and anything else that scale would ruin.
