The WAC Series covers closed-circuit cooling to 476,000 BTU/hr as a catalogue package. Above that, and wherever the loop needs more than one pump, the same equipment is engineered to order.
The idea goes back to 1993, when Hiross, Inc. filed the Ecosystem trademark for a closed-circuit heat exchanger, pump-driven circulation circuit and controls sold as one unit for cooling air compressors and other industrial equipment. The WAC Series is the catalogued descendant; the engineered fluid coolers and pump stations that the line's current manufacturer builds under the IPAC name are the scaled-up one.
A fluid cooler is a copper-tube, aluminum-fin coil with fans, sized for the heat load at the design ambient with the glycol percentage the site needs for freeze protection. The pump station is a self-contained skid - single or dual pumps for standby, a NEMA 4 control enclosure, expansion tank and bypass control - on a rugged C-channel frame. Published range is 10,000 BTU/hr to over 6,000,000 BTU/hr for the cooler, with the pump station matched to the loop's flow and head. Each package is engineered to the customer's construction materials, system layout and site environment; there is no model table.
The duty data are the same as for a WAC: heat load, loop flow and required supply temperature, design ambient, glycol type and percentage, the run to the equipment and its head loss, and whether a standby pump is wanted.
