IPAC 59 Series Water-Cooled Aftercoolers

PRODUCTSTYLERATINGTYPE
AftercoolerShell & Tube200 / 300 PSIGWater-Cooled

The 59 Series carries the same shell and tube construction as the 51 Series with a longer bundle: every model is 59 inches overall, and the additional surface brings the discharge air to within 5 to 10°F of the cooling water inlet rather than 15 to 20°F. That closer approach condenses more moisture ahead of the separator and gives a downstream dryer less work to do. The range also runs larger, to 11,970 SCFM on the W5000. Small NPT models (W0039 to W0069) are rated 300 PSIG; flanged models 200 PSIG.

Construction

Tubes

  • Copper as standard; stainless steel, admiralty and 90/10 copper-nickel on request. Helical extended-surface or plain tube.

Bundle

  • Fixed as standard, removable as an option. The 59 Series small models end in 9 (W0039, W0049, W0059, W0069) where the 51 Series equivalents end in 5.

Shell and heads

  • Carbon steel shell, 150# flanges standard with 300# and 600# for higher design pressures. Vertical or horizontal mounting.

Code

  • ASME U-stamp available; TEMA construction; CRN and PED on request. Custom units to 2,000 PSIG and beyond are engineered to order.

Why the 59 Series

When the dryer, the process or the paint line needs drier air

  • 5-10°F approach removes more water before the separator
  • Largest catalogued sizes - W2000 to W5000 to 11,970 SCFM
  • Same shell diameters as the 51 Series, eight inches longer

What We Need to Quote

A selection comes together quickly once the duty is stated.

  • Compressor SCFM and pressure, or the heat load
  • Inlet temperature and the cooling water or ambient temperature
  • Required outlet temperature
  • Design pressure and any code stamp

Replacing an Existing Unit

Where a unit is being replaced, the nameplate does most of the work.

  • IPAC or HiROSS model number, exactly as stamped
  • National Board number where one is fitted
  • Connection sizes and orientation
