Every IPAC pressure part carries a maximum allowable working pressure, and on most ranges it is written into the model number.
Water-cooled aftercoolers are rated 300 PSIG on the small NPT-connected models - W0035 to W0065 in the 51 Series, W0039 to W0069 in the 59 Series - and 200 PSIG on the flanged models. In the long-form number the sixth character carries this: B for 300 PSIG (W0065FB000) and A for 200 PSIG (W0110FA000). The maximum inlet air temperature is 400°F, and the catalogue gives cooling water flows at 200, 300 and 400°F inlet. Flanges are 150#, 300# or 600# for 200, 300 and 600 PSIG designs, and custom units have been built to 2,000 PSIG and above.
The same code across the range.
Air-cooled A Series units are rated 200 PSIG at 400°F in current production; the original HiROSS-built units were rated 230 PSIG. Separators follow the same lettering as the aftercoolers: B for 230 PSIG on the compact WS and cast sizes, A for 200 PSIG on the fabricated S04 to S15, with 1,000 and 2,000 PSIG builds available.
Drain traps carry the widest spread. The standard aluminum SAC120 and SAC100 are 230 PSIG; cast iron holds 230 PSIG, carbon steel goes to 440, 730 and 1,010 PSIG, and stainless steel bodies match the steel classes. In the trap number the pressure letter runs A 150, B 230, C 440, D 730 and E 1,010 PSIG. Whatever the rating, the system relief valve must be set at or below the lowest MAWP in the line.
| RANGE | TYPE | COVERS | RATING |
| Water-Cooled 51 Series | Water-Cooled Aftercooler | Fifteen shell and tube models from 38 to 4,785 SCFM, all 51-1/8 inches long | 200 PSIG (300 PSIG small NPT units) |
| Horizontal Separators | Centrifugal Moisture Separator | Sixteen current sizes from 127 to 25,000 SCFM, plus the three HiROSS-era cast units they replaced | 200 PSIG (230 PSIG WS01-WS03) |
| Automatic Drain Traps | Automatic Condensate Drain Trap | Float-operated condensate traps in 1/2 and 1 inch sizes | 230 PSIG aluminum; higher in steel and stainless |
The small NPT-connected water-cooled models - W0035 to W0065 in the 51 Series and W0039 to W0069 in the 59 Series, letter B in the long-form number. Flanged models are 200 PSIG, letter A.
400°F on the water-cooled and air-cooled aftercoolers. The catalogue gives water flows at 200, 300 and 400°F inlet so a hot single-stage machine can be sized correctly.
At or below the lowest MAWP of anything in the line - which, on a compressed air train, is often the drain trap or a cast separator rather than the aftercooler.
