IPAC Engineered & Custom Equipment

Not everything IPAC built has a catalogue number. Custom shell and tube exchangers, fluid coolers and pump stations, glycol recyclers, and high-pressure or stainless versions of the standard ranges - engineered to the duty and built to code.

Beyond the Catalogue

The eight IPAC ranges on this site cover 104 catalogued part numbers. Around them sits a body of engineered work that never had a model number: shell and tube exchangers designed to a specific duty, closed-loop fluid coolers and pump stations sized to a plant, coolant recycling systems, and special-material or high-pressure versions of the standard aftercoolers and separators. IPAC 2000 built a 16 inch by 15 foot double-pass shell and tube unit in 304 stainless; the current manufacturer sizes custom exchangers with HTRI software and builds them to ASME Section VIII, TEMA, CRN and PED.

These pages describe what has been built and what can be, so that an enquiry for something outside the tables has somewhere to land. There are no part numbers to search here - send the duty, or the nameplate of the unit being replaced, and we will engineer the match.

Custom 304 stainless steel shell and tube heat exchanger of the type built under the IPAC name

What Has Been Built

Custom stainless steel shell and tube heat exchanger with bolted flanged head

Custom Shell & Tube

Engineered exchangers to ASME / TEMA

  • Stainless, copper-nickel, admiralty or carbon steel
  • Design pressures to 3,000 PSIG on request
  • HTRI thermal design, U-stamp, CRN, PED
IPAC engineered fluid cooler with dual pump station

Fluid Coolers & Pump Stations

Closed-loop heat rejection, 10,000 to 6,000,000+ BTU/hr

  • Single or dual pump stations
  • NEMA 4 controls on a C-channel frame
  • Descended from the WAC and the Hiross Ecosystem
IPAC centrifugal separator, also built in stainless and to 1,000 and 2,000 PSIG

Special Builds of Standard Ranges

Stainless, high-pressure, coated

  • Separators to 1,000 and 2,000 PSIG
  • Stainless separators and SU00-suffix aftercoolers
  • Corrosion coatings and air-motor drives on A Series

Glycol Recyclers

The IPAC name also covers antifreeze and coolant recycling systems: skid-mounted units that recover vehicle coolant, remove the heavy metals it picks up in service - lead, tin, zinc, copper, iron - and evacuate a cooling system for repair. They are a fleet-maintenance product rather than a heat exchanger, are built to order, and carry no catalogue numbers. We can direct an enquiry.

What We Need to Quote

A selection comes together quickly once the duty is stated.

  • Compressor SCFM and pressure, or the heat load
  • Inlet temperature and the cooling water or ambient temperature
  • Required outlet temperature
  • Design pressure and any code stamp

Replacing an Existing Unit

Where a unit is being replaced, the nameplate does most of the work.

  • IPAC or HiROSS model number, exactly as stamped
  • National Board number where one is fitted
  • Connection sizes and orientation
