Every IPAC range has a standard material set chosen for plant air and city or tower water, and an option list for everything else.
Water-cooled aftercoolers and STA oil coolers carry copper tubes in a carbon steel shell as standard - copper for its conductivity and its resistance to ordinary cooling water, steel for the pressure envelope. Where the water is brackish, sea water, aggressive well water or heavily treated, the tubes are offered in 90/10 copper-nickel, admiralty brass or stainless steel, and zinc anodes can be fitted to STA bonnets. Complete stainless steel construction - shell and tubes - is available for corrosive condensate or for air that must not contact copper.
What arrives if nothing else is specified.
Air-cooled aftercoolers use copper tubes with aluminum fins; copper fins are the option for corrosive plant atmospheres, and special coatings are offered for the housing. Separators are fabricated carbon steel, with stainless steel bodies for corrosive condensate. Drain traps are aluminum in the standard 230 PSIG class and cast iron, carbon steel or stainless steel as pressure and corrosion demand.
Materials do not appear in the standard model number, so a replacement should be ordered against the original purchase record or the nameplate's material line where one exists. When neither is available, tell us the water source and the compressor type and we will recommend the set.
| RANGE | TYPE | COVERS | RATING |
| Water-Cooled 51 Series | Water-Cooled Aftercooler | Fifteen shell and tube models from 38 to 4,785 SCFM, all 51-1/8 inches long | 200 PSIG (300 PSIG small NPT units) |
| Shell & Tube Oil Coolers | Shell & Tube Oil Cooler | Seventeen sizes from a 3 inch shell 14 inches long to an 8 inch shell 72 inches long | Call for rating |
| Automatic Drain Traps | Automatic Condensate Drain Trap | Float-operated condensate traps in 1/2 and 1 inch sizes | 230 PSIG aluminum; higher in steel and stainless |
90/10 copper-nickel is the usual choice; stainless steel where chlorides are high. Zinc anodes can be fitted to STA bonnets. Tell us the water analysis if you have one.
Yes. Complete stainless construction - shell and tubes - is offered for corrosive condensate or for air that must not contact copper. The nameplate W1500FA SU00-S on the Legacy page is a catalogue size built this way.
From the original purchase record or the material line on the nameplate where one exists. Materials are not in the standard model number. Failing both, tell us the water source and compressor type and we recommend the set.
