Process Water Cooling

Process water cooling is the catch-all: any duty where water has picked up heat from a process and has to give it back before it is reused or discharged.

Where a second, cooler water supply exists - tower water, well water, city water - a shell and tube exchanger is the simplest answer, and the STA Series serves as a water-to-water cooler as readily as an oil cooler; the same MBH method applies with the water factor of 500 in place of the oil factor of 200. Where no second supply exists, the WAC closed-circuit cooler rejects the heat to air and the process water itself becomes the closed loop.

Where IPAC Equipment Does This Job

IPAC equipment turns up in this role on wash and rinse systems, quench tanks, jacketed mixers, irrigation and pump-seal cooling, and as the water source for water-cooled compressors and aftercoolers in plants that have no tower. Each case is sized on the same information: the heat load, the flow, the temperatures in and out, and what is available to cool against.

For anything outside the catalogue - stainless steel throughout, unusual pressures, sanitary or high-purity water - IPAC's successor builds custom shell and tube units to ASME, CRN and PED, and we can quote those alongside the standard ranges.
